THE sbp experience

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

While every couple's perfect day may look different, most of us have dreamed of the same things: a relaxed, happy day full of our friends and family, good food, great music, and photos of it all in a creative, timeless style that will have your future grandkids flipping through your wedding album in awe.

With a great plan, this is all possible.  The most calm, fun, & beautiful wedding days have been those that we intentionally curate that way.

wedding planning tips

just engaged? here are my best tips for your day:

If you have a wedding planner or coordinator, you may have already heard these nuggets of wisdom.  These tips can dramatically improve your experience from engagements to the end of your wedding night!  Read below:

Don't skip your engagement session.

Booking an engagement session is important for a few reasons!  Besides a session together being the perfect bonding date for you and your groom, it's also great for all three of us to get to know each other better (and usually makes for a much more relaxed wedding day vs. meeting for the first time on the morning of your vows.)

Book the prep venue.

The majority of your wedding day will be spent getting ready and we've found that brides who are intentional about the spaces they choose for prep usually have the most beautiful galleries, picturesque prep photos, and timeless images.  Look for spaces that are large enough to house all your bridesmaids, have plenty of natural light & windows, and are decorated simply and elegantly.

Work with an experienced planner.

A wedding planner can dramatically change the way your wedding day falls into place.  She's there from the beginning to help you choose the right venues and vendors while making sure the details you love are included.  We love working with wedding planners and have seen the profound effect they make on the entire experience for our brides.

Frequently asked questions

what's the average investment like?

Every bride has her own experience planned from locations to the hours you need covered - I'll send over what I think fits your plans best!  While collections begin at 6500, the average bride invests 8500.

Can I create my own collection?

Yes - I'll suggest what would fit your needs, but we can always add hours, prints, products, and anything else that'll best suit you.

Do you have a second shooter?

Absolutely - Anna has been shooting with me for three years and is a vital part of SBP.  My brides love her and the moments she catches always add so much value to a wedding gallery.

Do you suggest a videographer?

100%.  I work with videographers at the majority of our weddings. Genuine Collective and The Mulligans are two of my favorites (just to start)!

Are you a film or digital photographer?

Both!  I fell in love with film during my years as a photography major in college and it has been a game changer within my business - my work is so much more intentional as a film photographer. I shoot primarily film for all portrait sessions and shoot hybrid (film and digital) on wedding days.

do you work with planners?

Do I ever!  Planners are a bride's (and photographer's) best friend.  I've worked with many and can suggest a few: Alyssa Arlene Events, Southern Couture Weddings, and Jackson Southard Events.

What kind of cameras do you use?

I shoot with Sony digital cameras and a multitude of film cameras, the  Contax 645 being the main one!  I also bring along plenty of flash equipment so that we are ready for any lighting situations throughout your day.

what time does a wedding day start?

This totally depends on our wedding timeline that we will create together or with your planner, but I suggest having us arrive with plenty of time to have a relaxed prep for both you and the groom and any other events like first looks, family portraits, venue shots, etc.

who should I plan on asking to arrive or stay for group formals?

You'll want to write a list of formal photos that include parents, grandparents, siblings, and make sure to accommodate situations with divorced couples and stepparents.  Some brides choose to ask cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members to join in, but I personally recommend saving those groupings for the reception.

how many images are included in wedding galleries?

You can assume your gallery will average about 60-100 images per hour of shooting during the wedding day.  The typical gallery could be 600-1000 images.  I'll color correct, adjust, crop, and overall quality-check every image before sending your curated gallery over.

is there any additional fees for editing services?

There are times when some images need heavier editing by request - we can outsource those requests for things like head swaps or removal of large objects at $10-$15/image.

how do you stay on schedule all day?

We will have coordinated with your planner or created a detailed timeline that is shared with anyone involved in the day so that everyone can be on the same page.  We keep an eye on the time and will adjust accordingly throughout the day if needed.

When can we expect our gallery to be delivered?

My average turn around time for wedding galleries is 8-12 weeks! Engagements & Bridals are delivered within 3 weeks.  Additionally, if you have prints and/or products included in your collection, we will need a few more weeks for image selections and ordering time.
